The processes of growing mulberry, raising silkworms, harvesting silkworm eggs, and hand-weaving silk were expanded and became highly professional. Merchants from both Eastern and Western countries eagerly came to the port of Hội An to purchase various types of silk and raw silk. This contributed to building Hội An's port into an important link in the "silk route at sea" during that time.
Until now, Hội An Silk Village has preserved ancient looms, and they can even still function effectively. It continues to produce exquisite silk fabric from high-quality threads. Since then, the village has been invested in and restored with the goal of revitalizing, maintaining, and developing the silk weaving craft in Quảng Nam province. Simultaneously, it has transformed into a place for tourists to authentically experience the craft village atmosphere. From the process of raising silkworms to the final weaving of the finished product, every step can be witnessed here.
Located at 28 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Hoi An, Quang Nam Province, Hoi An Silk Village displays and maintains the tradition of silk weaving. Facing the gradual decline of the craft, Quang Nam Silk Joint Stock Company has restored the craft village, which is becoming an attractive destination for tourists.
The silk village is not too far from Hoi An ancient town, only about 1 kilometer away. Tourists can travel by cyclo or bicycle. You could also go on foot and enjoy the scenery on the way. If the streets are not too crowded, a viable option is to rent motorbikes and also visit other attractions near Hoi An such as Bay Mau coconut forest or An Bang beach.
