                                5 p.m.: Have a relaxing soak for our sore muscles We spent the first week of the trip in Tokyo walking 20,000-plus steps a day, so our backs and legs are aching. For recovery, I spring for a room with a private onsen, an outdoor tub filled with thermal water. You can technically use a public one, but I’d rather not get naked with strangers. This village, dedicated to the craft of silk production, has witnessed the passage of time and the evolution of silk weaving techniques.</i></p><p>Learn about the history of Silk Village over 300 years in the craft of silk weaving in region entered its heyday in the 16th and 17th centuries. This also laid the groundwork for the development of the weaving industry in Hội An during that period. </p><p>The processes of growing mulberry, raising silkworms, harvesting silkworm eggs, and hand-weaving silk were expanded and became highly professional. Merchants from both Eastern and Western countries eagerly came to the port of Hội An to purchase various types of silk and raw silk. This contributed to building Hội An's port into an important link in the "silk route at sea" during that time.</p><p>Until now, Hội An Silk Village has preserved ancient looms, and they can even still function effectively. It continues to produce exquisite silk fabric from high-quality threads. Since then, the village has been invested in and restored with the goal of revitalizing, maintaining, and developing the silk weaving craft in Quảng Nam province. Simultaneously, it has transformed into a place for tourists to authentically experience the craft village atmosphere. From the process of raising silkworms to the final weaving of the finished product, every step can be witnessed here.</p><p>Located at 28 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Hoi An, Quang Nam Province,&nbsp;<em>Hoi An Silk Village</em>&nbsp;displays and maintains the tradition of silk weaving. Facing the gradual decline of the craft, Quang Nam Silk Joint Stock Company has restored the craft village, which is becoming an attractive destination for tourists.</p><p>The silk village is not too far from Hoi An ancient town, only about 1 kilometer away. Tourists can travel by cyclo or bicycle. You could also go on foot and enjoy the scenery on the way. Once you reach the end of the cable car, you’ll have to climb up through a paved staircase for around 30 – 45 mins depending on how fast you do it. &nbsp;Along these staircases you will find Pagodas where the local Vietnamese go to to worship.</p><h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hike Up to the mountain</h3><p>If you want to hike up to the very top of the mountain, it’s about a 6 hour hike there and back from the foot of the mountain. From the pagoda it’s probably about 4.5 hours return. Hiking fun starts&nbsp;the end of the staircases, which marks another 2-hour hike to the summit of the mountain. The trail is very visible that it is impossible to get lost, but challenging because of the rocky or bouldery path. Along the way, after around one hour of leaving the staircase, you would&nbsp;find a rock protruding which you should not miss take a picture at. The views, of course, are beautiful. <p>Some people can fall asleep anywhere. I’ve watched longingly as friends of mine have passed out on short subway rides, intermissions during musicals, and in corners of noisy parties. I am not one of those people. Even on road trips and cross-country red-eye flights, I’m wide awake.
